Saturday February 12: Greenway to 148, down to 92 Avenue
- 11:00 am
- Meet at the Surrey Nature Centre.
- Distance: about 2.5 miles/5 km, mostly on paved/even surfaces
Last time we tried this we changed direction and walked to the erratic, and around the lake. This time we’ll walk along the Green Timbers Greenway to 148 Street, then down to 92 Avenue and back up through the railbed trail. We’ll discuss the “Environmentally Sensitive Area” bounded by our walk and keep an eye open for garbage. The complete trip should be about 3 miles (5 km) and be mostly on flat level gravel or paved paths. We may change the route depending on what people want to do. Meet at the Surrey Nature Centre parking lot (14335 Green Timbers Way, free) at 11 am. Socially responsible vis-a-vis covid. Be safe everyone!
Sunday February 20: The ‘hard to describe’ walk through the forest
- 11:00 am
- Meet at the Surrey Nature Centre.
- Distance: to be determined, but be prepared for about 4 km, mostly on gravel/even surfaces.
We can always change the route depending on who shows up and what we all feel like at the time, but the plan is to do a big circle around the core area of Green Timbers, skirting the lake and maybe going on some trails we don’t visit very often. Should be about 2.5 miles or 4 km. Something like that anyway. We’ll be going on a combination of flat gravel trails and some a little less developed. Bring gloves if you’d like to help pick up some garbage. We can discuss the difference between bog cranberry and the fruit of the false lily of the valley. Meet at the Surrey Nature Centre Parking lot at 11 am (14225 Green Timbers Way, free parking).
